Mount Leuser National Park
Mount Leuser National Park (TNGL) is one of the largest nature conservation areas in Southeast Asia, spanning the border of Aceh and North Sumatra. It is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
TNGL is the last stronghold for endangered wildlife, including the Sumatran Orangutan, Sumatran Tiger, Sumatran Elephant, and Sumatran Rhinoceros. Its tropical rainforests are dense and house incredible biodiversity.
Visitors can embark on jungle trekking led by experienced rangers, observe orangutans in their natural habitat, or go rafting down clean forest rivers. The forest air is remarkably fresh and completely unpolluted.
The primary ecotourism hub of TNGL in Aceh is located in Ketambe, Southeast Aceh Regency. Ketambe offers budget-friendly eco-lodges that blend with nature and provide an authentic rainforest adventure.
